BFP-Bacolod spearheads ‘Balik Eskwela’ outreach

A total of 279 children and learners in Negros Occidental benefitted from the “Balik Eskwela 2026: Gift Giving and Feeding Program” of the Bureau of Fire and Protection- Bacolod, with the support of partner organizations, on May 25.

Spearheaded by F/Supt.Jenny Mae Masip, BFP – Bacolod chief, the outreach initiative aimed to provide school supplies and meals to learners and children in preparation for the opening of classes for School Year 2026–2027, while promoting compassion, bayanihan, and community service.

The first activity was conducted on May 23 at Guanzon-Balgos Elementary School in Barangay Dulao, Bago City, where 132 elementary learners received school supplies and participated in a feeding program.

The outreach activity was conducted in partnership with Kanlaon Lodge No. 64 F.&A.M. and Philippine National Police Academy SANSINIRANGAN Class of 2007.

On the same day, another outreach activity was held at Purok Santan in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City, where 66 Kindergarten to Grade 12 learners received school supplies and meals.

The activity was supported by Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod and Mister Donut, alongside partner organizations and volunteers.

The culminating activity was held at the grounds of the Bacolod City Fire Station, where 81 children of BFP personnel from the Bacolod City Fire Station, Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal–Province of Negros Occidental, and the BFP Negros Island Region Finance Management Division received school supplies and meals.

The activity also served as a way of giving back to the families of BFP personnel in recognition of their unwavering support and sacrifices in public service, while helping prepare their children for the upcoming school year.

Masip expressed gratitude to all sponsors, volunteers, partner organizations, and Bacolod City firefighters who contributed to the success of the outreach activities.

“This initiative reflects the importance of extending support not only to communities and learners in need, but also to the families of our personnel who continuously stand behind us in our commitment to public service. Through these simple acts of kindness, we hope to inspire the children to pursue their education and dreams with determination,” she added.

The successful conduct of the three outreach activities highlighted the spirit of unity, volunteerism, and compassion among firefighters, community partners, and volunteers who came together for the welfare of children and learners, a statement from the BFP-Bacolod said.*
