The Bureau of Fire Protection – Negros Island Region (BFP-NIR) Regional Director FSupt. Rodolfo Denaga reported that fire incidents plummeted by 40 percent across the region.
Denaga reported that the fires dropped from 1,700 in 2024 to 1,060 in 2025.
The record follows a decrease of 19 percent in damage to property, from P236 million in 2024 to P160 million in 2025.
The regional director attributed the result to various fire prevention campaigns and community engagement.
“One of the notable decreases is from Bacolod City, with the classification of the red zone of our personnel, they were able to give emphasis on fire prevention in the area and they introduced stakeholders who helped them in preventing fire-induced areas,” he said.
Denaga added that for the celebration of the Fire Prevention Month in March, they prepared youth-centered programs and projects, as well as corporate social responsibility programs.*
