The attempt of a call center agent to end his life by jumping from a building at Lacson Street in Bacolod City, was foiled by Bureau of Fire and Protection personnel yesterday.
In a statement, the BFP-Negros Occidental said its Special Rescue Force (SRF) Alpha Team of Angel -01 Rescue Truck led by SFO1 Arnel Chavez responded to a call on an attempt of a man to jump from the 5th floor of Concentrix Building at Lacson Street in Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City.
The presence of the call center agent at the edge of the BPO 5th floor building as early as 6 a.m. yesterday, alarmed his family and colleagues working in the building, BFP said.
After 30 minutes of negotiations, a BFP personnel managed to snatch him from the edge of the building and brought him down to a safer area.
The call center agent was reported to have problems with his love life, leading him to consider jumping from the 5th floor of his work place building.
BFP personnel were joined by the Chamber volunteers, Mountain Tiger and personnel of Police Station 3, in the response to the to suicide attempt situation.
The call center agent, whose identity is being withheld, was endorsed to the Police Station 3 by the BFP.
This accomplishment is just one of the manifestations of genuine service, selflessness and dedication to duty of your friendly firefighters who protect and serve any form of life, BFP-Negros Occidental said.
