The nearly completed construction of the New Magsaysay Bridge along Bacolod South Road in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental will soon facilitate safer and more convenient travel for motorists and commuters.
The project implemented by Department of Public Works and Highways Negros Occidental 2nd District Engineering Office is a parallel bridge with a pre-stressed concrete girder on bored pile foundation.
Costing P76.9 million, the new bridge will provide access to the southern half of Negros Occidental and increase road space, both of which would help draw more investors to the province, DPWH Region 6 Director Nerie Bueno said, adding that the bridge project started in April 2021 and is currently 86 percent complete.
Bueno was in the province recently and visited district engineering offices in Binalbagan and Bago.
District engineers Allan Rey Pajimna of the 2nd DEO and Genaro Panganiban of the 4th DEO both warmly welcomed the regional director and showed her around their district offices.
Bueno’s visit to the province is aimed at familiarizing herself with the offices and expediting the status of the projects being implemented in the province.
“It is my goal to visit all Negros Occidental District Engineering Offices to become familiarized with the projects and the status of the infrastructures that are being implemented in this province,” Bueno said.
Bueno also consulted with district engineers to learn more about the people and culture of their respective districts.
“I also want to meet with the district engineers and office personnel to learn more about their office setup and concerns. With this, I will know what needs to be done and improved in the district engineering offices here in Negros Occidental,” she added.*
