A 38-year-old man accidentally shot himself with a homemade firearm on Sunday Sitio Tambo, Barangay Amontay, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.
Initial investigation revealed that the victim found a homemade firearm in a sugarcane field near his residence.
Upon seeing the item, the victim decided to bring it home and it accidentally discharged while he was attempting to dismantle it.
As a result, the victim was hit by a bullet on his left calf. He was immediately transported by barangay officials to the infirmary for medical treatment.
The victim was in stable condition and was referred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City for the surgical removal of the slug lodged in the victim’s left calf.*
