The Municipality of Binalbagan marked a historic milestone as it celebrated its 454th Founding Anniversary and the 13th Balbagan Festival on May 14.
The event was highlighted by a lively street and arena dance competition featuring nine clustered barangays, each showcasing vibrant choreography, colorful costumes, and interpretations of this year’s theme, “Padayon sa pag Sinadya kag pag Uswag” (Continue to Celebrate and Progress).
After an exhilarating display of talent, creativity, and cultural pride, Barangay Payao was declared this year’s grand champion. The group’s performance captivated both the audience and the judges, earning them not only the top prize but also several minor awards, including Best in Video Presentation, Best in Choreography, and Best in Concept.
The first runner-up title went to the collaboration of Barangays Paglaum, San Pedro, and San Teodoro, whose cohesive and energetic routine stood out among the competitors. Meanwhile, the entry of Barangays San Vicente and San Juan, secured the second runner-up position.


Barangays Progreso and Marina also delivered a remarkable performance that earned them several minor awards, including Best in Street Dance, Best in Costume Display, and Best in Production Design.
Binalbagan Mayor Emmanuel Aranda, joined by the esteemed panel of judges, handed out the trophies and cash prizes to all the winners during the awarding ceremonies.
In his speech, the mayor praised the participants for their dedication and stressed the importance of cultural festivals in fostering unity and progress among Binalbagan’s communities.
Also present at the event were Vice Mayor Mary Ann Mirasol, 5th District Congressman Emilio Bernardino Yulo III, Board Member Hadji Trojillo, as well as various municipal and barangay officials, including Municipal Tourism Officer-Designate Kathleen Aguirre and Festival Coordinator Beermoon Getonzo.

This year’s competition was evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges composed of Johnny De Los Santos, Francisco Palma, Mark Oliver Canobis, Ronnie Baldonado, Joeven Alitao, Carmelo Escototo, Randyll Villones, Edwin Benitez, John Mark Alpay, Rudy Reveche, and Andrew Altarejos. Their expertise and fair judgment ensured a credible and exciting competition.
The twin celebration not only honored Binalbagan’s rich history but also highlighted the collective spirit and artistry of its people. The festival served as a reminder of the community’s resilience, joy, and commitment to continuous growth.
The festival also coincides with the annual fiesta of its patron saint San Isidro Labrador.*
