Binalbagan police chief relieved for messy station

• RICHARD T. CABALLERO JR.

Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) Director PBrig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay confirmed yesterday that the Binalbagan Municipal Police Station Commander PCapt. Joelan Vinson was temporarily relieved of his position on October 18.

Ibay, who is known for his strict cleanliness policy in all police stations under his jurisdiction, said that the relief order was served after they conducted a surprise inspection of the Binalbagan MPS and discovered that the facility was not maintained properly.

“We have a policy about cleanliness in our police stations, and during the inspection, we saw an inefficiency in that station; that’s why he was temporarily relieved,” Ibay explained.

He further disclosed that after he issued the relief order, he immediately turned over the case and the decision to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO).

“It depends on the NOCPPO when they will allow him to return to his position, but the order was just temporary,” he added.

Vinson, who has been temporarily reassigned to the NOCPPO headquarters, was replaced by PCapt. Rodrigo Martinez as the Officer-In-Charge of the said station.

The decision on his return as police chief is now under the discretion of NOCPPO Director PCol. Dennis Wenceslao, according to Ibay.*
