Bacolod City Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia is now fully vaccinated, after he received his second dose of AstraZeneca vaccine at the Bacolod City Government Center Saturday.

Leonardia said, “I’m happy to report to our people that I have complied with our local and national vaccination plans. I reiterate that I preferred AstraZeneca because we anticipate that majority of Bacolodnons is expected to use this brand which we had contracted in a tripartite agreement and locally funded.”

“I hope I can serve as an example to encourage vaccine confidence further,” the mayor said in a press release from the city.

Leonardia received his first dose of AstraZeneca on April 17, also at the Government Center.

As mayor, Leonardia belongs to priority group A1, or workers in frontline health services, after the National IATF reclassified local chief executives to be under Priority Group A1.5 in the ongoing national vaccination program.

Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr., officer-in-charge of the City Health Office, administered both the first and second Covid jab on Leonardia.

Other CHO doctors and Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy medical of the Emergency Operations Center, were at the rollout Saturday, when another batch of senior citizens also received their second dose, the press release added.*
