A birthday bash turned violent when the celebrant allegedly stabbed his companion in the middle of their celebration on Monday at Purok 2, Barangay Tuyom, Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
The suspect, a 43-year-old fisherman, was reportedly celebrating his birthday at his residence when the incident occurred. The victim, identified only as a 40-year-old fisherman, was invited by the suspect to the gathering. Both are residents of the same barangay.
Initial investigations conducted by the Cauayan Municipal Police Station revealed that the victim approached the suspect’s house, where a birthday party was underway. Upon arrival, the victim was welcomed by the suspect and his companions, who were engaged in a drinking session.
Police said that, due to intoxication, a heated argument erupted between the victim and the suspect, which allegedly prompted the suspect to draw a knife and stab the victim in the left side of the chest.
Emergency responders rushed the victim to Cauayan District Hospital for medical treatment. Fortunately, he survived the deep wound and is currently in stable condition.
The responding police team recovered the weapon from the suspect’s possession and successfully apprehended him. The suspect is now in custody at Cauayan MPS pending further investigation and proper disposition.*
