San Carlos Bishop Gerardo Alminaza said he is one with the call of medical workers to declare an Enhanced Community Quarantine in Metro Manila area to address the growing cases of coronavirus disease 2019.

In a solidarity statement yesterday, the bishop said he is commending the heroic service of the medical frontliners to the Filipino people.

“Indeed, the call of our medical health workers is a revolution from the heart. They want to heal our land, they want us to be free from the virus, and more importantly, they want us to take a time-out of our fears of the Covid-19,” the statement said.

He said President Rodrigo Duterte did not respond well to the collective cry of the medical workers, as he stressed that the call for ECQ should not just be dismissed by blabber-mouthed propaganda.

“Our medical health workers’ call is a manifestation of telling our government to address the pandemic with medical solutions,” adding they have seen how this government spent billions of money on failed priorities, and allowed the virus to infect more.

He pointed out that it is counter-revolutionary for the government not to heed the call, and still resort to hard-headedness at the expense of health safety and the frontliners.*
