The Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry lauded the city governments of San Carlos and Talisay in Negros Occidental for their initiatives against the coronavirus disease.

Frank Carbon of the MBCCI said San Carlos is addressing the adverse impact of Covid-19 on social, economic, and security sectors, while Talisay is focusing its efforts on the containment of the virus.

He said the city government of San Carlos took the lead in facilitating financial assistance to small businesses, as well as creating jobs and livelihood for the most vulnerable members of the community.

On September 24, officials of San Carlos and Rep. Gerardo Valmayor Jr. (1st District) will meet virtually the representatives of Small Business Corp. and Land Bank of the Philippines to discuss the financial assistance of the national government to the local government units and small business establishments, Carbon said.

He said the meeting was facilitated by Governor Eugenio Lacson through the Provincial Economic Development and Investment Center.

Carbon also lauded Talisay for its control measures, such as limiting the crowd inside the public markets, and imposing stringent health protocols on vendors and marketgoers, as well the continued monitoring of its barangays.

He said these two LGUs could share their practices in fighting Covid-19 to the other LGUs in the province.*
