A businessman was arrested for illegal possession of firearms in an entrapment operation in Purok Carvic, Barangay Mandalagan in Bacolod City, at about 10 a.m. yesterday.
P/Chief Master Sgt. Ramiro Gocotano of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Bacolod, said Romeo Lobaton Jr., 49, of Barangay Mandalagan, who is into the buying and selling of properties, was arrested by operatives of CIDG-Bacolod, under the supervision of P/Capt. Reydian Corales.
Recovered from Lobaton were 32 pieces of boodle money, P100 in marked money, a Colt .45 caliber pistol, a magazine, and a .22 caliber magnum revolver loaded with five live ammunition, records show.
Lobaton failed to show pertinent documents authorizing him to possess or sell firearms, and he was brought to the CIDG Bacolod while charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, are being readied against him.*
