To celebrate Voluntary Blood Donors Day, the Rotary Club of Bacolod-Marapara recently assisted in a bloodletting program in Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City, headed by Brgy. Captain Yolanda “Bebing” Noble.
Partnering the program were the Bacolod Police Office, the blood bank at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Hospital and the Pahanocoy Fire Station. Some 43 units of blood were collected from the volunteer donors.
“Access to blood is critical for hospitals and we’re pleased to have the opportunity to assist in helping to keep the flow of blood going,” said Marapara Rotary secretary Marco Ibanez.
In addition to bloodletting, the program included free dental work for 75 residents conducted by two volunteer dentists. This was sponsored by local businessman Dan Atayde.
And, as an added bonus, 34 residents received free haircuts.*
