Bobcats, RGG Farms stay unbeaten

The Bobcats and RGG Farms remained unbeaten in the 15-and-Under category of the 4th Chairman’s Cup Negros, after securing crucial victories on Tuesday at the Msgr. John Liu Activity Center.

The Bobcats seized solo leadership in Bracket B following a thrilling 65-60 overtime win against Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS). As a result, the Bobcats improved to 2-0, while BTTHS dropped to 2-1. Vincent De La Cruz and PJ Rasmo led the Bobcats with 12 points apiece, while Angelo Neal Villoso chipped in 8 points. BTTHS was powered by Jared Buñol’s 16 points, Seth Guarino’s 12, and Kent Paulo Gallega’s 8.

Meanwhile, RGG Farms also improved to 2-0, cruising past Bacolod Trinity Christian School (BTCS) in a 78-67 victory. Iñigo Jamon led the charge with 21 points, while Nicus Robert Calma, who was named Acster Marketing Player of the Game, added 18 points.

In other 15U action, the Talisay Sharks entered the win column with a dominant 86-63 win over Negros Youth Basketball Club (NYBC). Bruce Gecaraya sparked an early double-digit lead with 13 first-quarter points in a game where he finished with 17, as teammate Alvin Bosico added 10 points. NYBC was led by Rico Bayotas and Derek Alijano with 11 points each, and Keith Uy contributed 9 points.

Nonoy’s also recorded its first victory, defeating TSIDKENU 58-48, led by Christian ApilApil’s 20 points, while Jacob paced TSIDKENU with 13 points.

17-and-Under action saw St. Sebastian International School (SSIS) completed a sweep of the elimination round in Bracket B, defeating Team Spartans, 56-35. SSIS led 26-20 at halftime and limited the Spartans to just 15 points in the second half, while scoring 30. Shaun Estocado, named Joshbianc Motors Player of the Game, finished with 16 points, and teammate Sam Hady Ashour added 13. Vince Buensuceso led the Spartans with 13 points, all made in the first half.

Talisay Sharks (1-2) secured their first win in the 17U bracket with a hard-fought 74-68 victory over NYBC. John Joseph Gerardo delivered a standout performance with 29 points, supported by Klyde Malaga’s 14. Lorenzo Joaquin Lacson starred for NYBC with 32 points, while Jeric Alijano contributed 11.

Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod (CSAB) tied BTTHS atop the Bracket A standings with a 3-0 record after a 65-51 win over University of Negros Occidental (UNO-R). Rasheim Rojas led CSAB with 16 points, as France Andre Danio added 9. UNO-R was paced by Lexanne Pabilla’s 11 points and Lebron Garde added 10.

University of St. La Salle (USLS) clinched second place in their group by finishing the elimination round with a 2-1 slate, following a convincing 79-50 win over C&C Café. John Paul Cabayao led USLS with 19 points, while Lamonte and Restituto Abaring III had 10 points each. For C&C Café, Garcia scored 10, followed by Saldvia – 9, and Sultan – 8 points.

For the 17-and-Under Division, the top 4 teams in each bracket advance to the crossover knockout quarterfinals. In the 15-and-Under Division, the top 2 teams in each bracket move on to the crossover knockout semifinals.*
