A resolution declaring the week of November 17 to 23, 2025, as Boys and Girls Week in Bacolod City, in recognition of the importance of the youth and their role in nation-building, and encouraging their active participation in community and school activities, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod on Nov. 19.
Authored by Councilor Em Ang and co-authored by Councilor Danna Marie Barzo, the resolution said the youth are the future of our nation, and it is essential to nurture their talents, values, and leadership qualities.
The City of Bacolod recognizes the importance of emphasizing the welfare, development, and protection of boys and girls, thus fostering their well-being and future, it said.
The celebration of Boys and Girls Week serves as an opportunity to promote awareness and active participation of the youth in community and civic activities, the resolution said.
The objectives of the declaration of November 17 to 23, 2025 as Boys and Girls Week in Bacolod City, is to promote the rights and welfare of boys and girls; to encourage active participation of youth in community development; and to instill values of good citizenship, responsibility, and patriotism among the youth, it added.
The City Government, in coordination with schools, barangays, civic clubs, youth organizations and the barangay Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) thru the SK Federation, shall organize and conduct activities that will highlight the importance of the youth’s role in society, such as educational programs, sports events, cultural performances, and civic engagements, the resolution added.*
