Summit overcame a huge deficit to defeat the Asahi, 84-80 in their Fil-Sino Athletic Club tournament game.  After looking like Asahi was headed towards their 3rd win with a 15-point heading into halftime, it turned out Summit had other plans.

A furious comeback effort was mounted, led by Francis Barcellano and Randy Colonia, as Summit outscored Asahi 26-18 in the 3rd quarter and cut the deficit by 7.  The two teams exchanged buckets down the stretch, but Summit came out victorious after mounting a successful comeback in the fourth quarter where they outscored Asahi 24-13.

Colonia led Summit with 22 points, earning player of the game honors. Francis Barcellano filled up the stat sheet with 19 points and Mark Bellocillo chipped in 16 points.  Julius Teruel led Asahi with 27 points, Adonis Rosales totaled 20, Emil Guanzon had 15, and Genmar Zagado added 11.

In the other game, Brew Kettle defeated Vitamilk, 106-87.

The Kettles wasted no time making an early statement, jumping to a 35-20 lead after one quarter. The Kettles carried on with a strong second-quarter performance, taking a 17-point edge into halftime.

Vitamilk regained its footing by the 4th quarter, however it was not enough to mount a successful comeback.  Cesar Tan led the Kettles with 27 points and player of the game honors. Ben Bunol followed with 24 points, Carlo Chu – 17, and Arvin Espinitra – 13.

Michael John Calibo dropped a total of 6 shots from behind the arc to lead Vitamilk with 30 points and Tata Javillo turned in 24 points.*
