The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is enjoining all barangay captains of Bacolod City to accept and accommodate all Bacolodnon indigent applicants eligible for the Bacolod City Comprehensive Health Program (BacCHP).
The resolution authored by Councilor Claudio Jesus Raymundo Puentevella said the BacCHP was established to improve the delivery of the city’s health care services to the people of Bacolod, especially to the vulnerable and indigent citizens of the city.
It has come to the attention of the members of the Sanggunian Panlungsod of Bacolod City that there were Bacolod residents who were denied access and accommodation from their respective barangay captains without any written explanation, it said.
The health program BacCHP was designed and established for the general welfare of the Bacolodnon, regardless of any political beliefs or affiliation, the resolution said.
Meanwhile, the Sanggunian also approved a resolution requesting Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez thru Social Services head Pacita Tero to conduct information drive to all 61 barangays on the Mandatory Philhealth Coverage for all identified indigent residents under Republic Act No. 11223, or The Universal Healthcare Act and to request all barangays to provide a list of qualified indigents.
The City Social Services and Development Office should spearhead the information dissemination to see to it that the less privileged constituents living in far flung areas of Bacolod City will have easy access to benefits that is afforded to them, the resolution said.
All 61 barangays of Bacolod City are urged to provide proper recording and listing of all qualified indigent individuals to the Bacolod City Health Office and the Department of Social Services and Development Office, it added.*
