A barangay councilor and two other high-value targets were arrested with 20 grams of shabu on Friday, March 20, in a drug raid in Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PDEA-RO-NIR) identified the primary suspect as alias ‘Daniel,’ 29, an incumbent barangay councilor and the alleged maintainer of the drug den.
Also taken into custody were alias ‘Alex,’ 29, a BPO employee, and alias ‘Sheldon,’ 23, a laborer.
The fourth suspect, alias ‘Joseph,’ remains at large and is currently the subject of a manhunt.
During the operation, authorities seized 16 sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded Glock 43 firearm.
The joint sting involved the PDEA-RO-NIR and various police units, including the Sta. Catalina Municipal Police Station.
All suspects face multiple charges for violating Sections 5,6,7,11, and 12 of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.*
