It started with the reunion of former Brass Band members of different schools sometime in 2020.
It was the brainchild of Jimmy Arizo Nepangue to gather an all-Negros Selection of musicians in the hope and good reason to bring back the brass band. Many of the musicians are from abroad and locally based and are now professionals in different walks of life.
In October of 2021 the band began with a small group of members practicing in a small space with their own instruments.
This effort became ultimately the inspiration of the musicians to form the band association which aims to bring back the brass band not only in Bacolod City but also to encourage intermediate schools and Universities to put up their own bands.
The brass band is kept alive through this initiative.
After a few months, the group tried to contact the fellow musicians from abroad for financial assistance and got 100 percent support. Musician VAL Fajardo donated a number of music stands and note arrangement provided by active members and other band groups outside Bacolod.
Unsurprisingly, the group suffered difficulties such as lack of instruments and no space for practice venue.
It tried seeking the assistance from the LGU of Bacolod City aiming to raise funds for purchase of instruments.
During the election period the group also catered to the rally programs of administration candidates hoping for the recognition due to the association to the city.
Lately, with the help of some members abroad, namely Mario Arroyo, Joey Torion and Jojo Bergantin, along with the efforts of hard-working lady member Char Palma, they acquired new uniforms, adopting the logo of (BBB) Bacolod Brass Band with the GClef as their trade mark.
As the group grew, Alfredo Fresnedo Lucendo, a Spanish musician and conservatory who married a native of Barangay Latasan, EB Magalona and decided to stay in Negros to help the brass band was welcomed into the group as a benefactor. He will put in place systems to professionalize the group members and handle the management services where he excelled in motivating and drawing out the best among the members and making them world class musicians along with the growth of the Bacolod Brass Band.*
