A resolution requesting the Bacolod Transportation and Traffic Management Department (BTTMD) for the strict implementation and enforcement of City Ordinance No. 09-17-808, or “An Ordinance Creating Bike Lane Interloop in the City of Bacolod,” was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.
Authored by Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr., the resolution said the Sangguniang Paungsod of Bacolod City passed C.O. No. 09-17-808, also known as the “Bacolod City Bike Lane Interloop Ordinance,” which include Bike Friendly Lanes and a Protected Bike Lane along designated public streets in the city.
The Bacolod Transportation and Traffic Management Department (BTTMD) is responsible for managing traffic flow, parking, and public transportation regulation in the City of Bacolod, it said.
Strict implementation and enforcement of the ordinance will allow the safe travel of bikers, motor vehicles, and ensure the safety of pedestrians, the resolution said.
It will also encourage people to use bikes for transportation, especially now that there is notable increase in oil prices and other commodities, it added.*
