Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., yesterday said that the Expanded Centenarian Act, which he authored, has been allocated with a budget for next year.
The Act, which was signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in February this year, ensures that senior citizens aged 80, 85, 90, and 95, regardless of their residence, will receive P10,000 cash incentives. Moreover, upon reaching the remarkable age of 100, they will still be honored with P100,000.
“If they have celebrated their birthday this year starting March and onwards, they can already be included. All they need to do is have their names listed with the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA),” Revilla said.
Filipino senior citizens ages 80 to 95 may now receive a P10,000 cash incentive from the Philippine government after Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarian Act of 2016 was amended in February 2023.
The president signed on February 26 Republic Act 11982, known as the Act Granting Benefits to Filipino Octogenarians and Nonagenarians, as an adaptation of the existing benefits for Filipino senior citizens.
The amendment aims to give incentives to seniors after reaching their milestone age of eighty, eighty-five, ninety, and ninety-five. Consequently, centenarians or those who are one hundred years old will continue to receive the P100,000 cash benefit from the Philippine government.*
