Bus catches fire

• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

A fire of still unknown origin yesterday hit a passenger bus along the national highway in Brgy. Taloc in Bago City, Negros Occidental.

None of the 32 passengers were hurt, as they were able to disembark from the Ceres Liner bus, as facilitated by the driver and conductor, before the fire started, according to Jade Seballos, Vallacar Transit Inc. media relations officer.

The bus was on its way to Bacolod City from Hinigaran when the incident took place along the Bago City highway.

Seballos, who apologized for the incident, said the driver and conductor are now being investigated to determine the cause of fire.

The stranded passengers were transferred to another Ceres Liner bus also bound for Bacolod City.

Seballos maintained that all of the company’s passenger buses undergo regular maintenance, before going on trips.

The estimated damage on the fire-hit passenger bus, which suffered partial damage, has yet to be determined by VTI as of press time.*
