A businessman was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman Tuesday in Purok Valero, Brgy. Ma-ao, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
The Bago City police identified the victim as Henie Maalat Sr, 49, a businessman and a resident of Eroreco Subdivision in Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City.
Initial investigations of the Bago City police showed that the victim, on board a white Nissan Navarra pick-up vehicle had left the Aloy Rock Crusher in Brgy. Cansilayan, Murcia to deliver fuel and equipment to their quarry site at Purok Pader, Brgy. Ma-ao, Bago City, when he was shot.
A bullet hole was noted on the glass window at the driver’s side, the police said.
The police has yet to identify the suspect and establish the motive of the shooting.
The killing of Maalat Sr. took place as the police was also trying to make a breakthrough in their investigations to identify the gunman, who also shot and killed 70-year-old Alejandrito Emeterio on March 15 in Brgy. Bacong, Bago City.*
