Buy-busts yield assorted guns, shabu

Assorted guns and shabu have been recovered by the police in series of law enforcement operations that also resulted to the arrest of 11 suspects, including a businessman, now locked up in jail.

The joint buy-bust operations of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Bacolod City Field Unit, Bacolod City Mobile Force Company, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office Provincial Intelligence Unit and local police in Brgy. Laga-an, Calatrava, on July 29, led to the recovery of two .45 caliber Colt pistols with two magazines containing six ammunition, a 12-gauge Armscor shotgun, P100 marked money and P69,900 boodle, and a sling bag.

The recovery of assorted guns also led to the apprehension of two suspects identified as Danelson Amolo, a 57-year-old businessman, of Sitio Agbalutan, Brgy. Dolis, and Renato Delima, a 49-year-old furniture maker, of Brgy. Laga-an, both of Calatrava, police records show.

Policemen also apprehended Joefel Sante, 19, for illegal discharge of firearms on July 30, along the national highway of Crossing Cristobal in Brgy. Mabini, Esacalante City.

The arrest of Sante after a brief chase yielded a caliber .357 Magnum revolver with a fired cartridge, a Rusi 125 motorcycle and a sling bag. His two companions however managed to escape, police said.

A caliber .38 revolver with five live ammunition, a gun holster, and a bladed weapon were among the items recovered by the police from Mark Anthony Salapar, 22, following his arrest on July 29 at Ascalon Street in Brgy2, Victorias City, for a traffic violation.

The apprehension of Jeovani Alora, 36 in Brgy. Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, also on Friday, also yielded a .357 caliber revolver with four ammunition.

The recovery of the firearm was made after the police served the arrest warrant issued to Alora, who is facing grave threat charges, with bail of P2,000, as recommended by Judge Jose Meno Custodio Ruiz.

On the other hand, the apprehensions of Paolo Gimena in La Carlota City, Ronald Magahin in San Carlos City, Christinel Gallego in Talisay City, Ruben Marcial in EB Magalona, as well as Onofrey Delamide in a series of buy bust operations resulted to the recovery of about 11 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P72,000, police further said.*
