Cabug-Handumanan road opened

• CHRYSEE G. SAMILLANO

The 1.3 kilometer road from Barangays Cabug to Handumanan, Bacolod City is now passable to the public after the Bacolod City Engineer’s Office (CEO) recently completed road maintenance works in the area.

Loben Ceballos, CEO officer-in-charge, said it is just a temporary solution to the problem that became viral on social media.

Ceballos said they are about to submit to the mayor the program of works for the road improvement project of the Cabug- Handumanan Road, with a budget of P85 million to be taken from the P4.1 billion loan of the city.

The city had no previous allocation for the project for the reason that the road was under different private property owners.  They have already identified the properties, subject for negotiation, which they need to acquire in order to improve the road, he said.

Ceballos said that once they have processed the documents, they expect to start the road improvement project by September or October, depending on the procurement process.

At present, negotiation is ongoing with about 11 property owners, involving 16 lots, he said, adding that there are already portions of the road covered by deed of donation.

The two-lane road will have a width of 10 meters, sidewalk, drainage system, and solar lights, Ceballos added.*
