The city government of Cadiz has allocated approximately P15 million to fund the 10-day celebration of the 52nd Dinagsa Festival, Mayor Salvador “Bading” Escalante Jr. announced yesterday.
Escalante stated that during the celebration, police and mobile forces have been assigned to key festival areas to ensure peace and order throughout all the activities.
“We have members of the Philippine Army and Coast Guard. I believe there are over 300 of them, along with additional personnel from our multipliers,” he shared.
This year’s festival will feature performances by local and national artists and bands to entertain festival-goers and residents.
Escalante added that bands such as Kamikazee and Hale will perform during the opening days of the festivities.
Meanwhile, unlike previous festivals, there will be no sporting activities this year to allow the city to focus on cultural and historical displays during the celebration.
“If you look at our schedule, we have eliminated the sports events. All sports activities will be held during our Sports Month celebration in April,” he explained, noting a minor modification to the usual schedule.
The Dinagsa Festival is a celebration of the culture, faith, and history of Cadiz City, held in honor of its patron saint, the Senior Santo Niño.*
