Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante, Jr. was guest of honor at the opening of an art exhibition titled “Seasons of Time” at Monfort Eats in Capitol Heights, Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City Saturday.

The month-long exhibit organized by Art Studio Forty Nine will run until February 14, featuring the work of Negrense visual artist Jenevieve Abeto, with special participation of AS49 artists Noel Martinez, Keith Joshua Panoy and Patricia Faith Valencia.

The event, which happened to be Abeto’s birthday and at the same time, the maiden art exhibit at Monfort Eats, a restaurant owned by Alfredo “Amay” Monfort, a collector of the former’s artworks. Both have roots from Cadiz City.

Abeto is a well-rounded artist who established Art Studio Forty Nine along La Salle Avenue in October last year and since then had then been constantly holding art workshops for children.  She had participated in various group art exhibits, being a member of the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros.

She was also an art teacher and coach at Christian Academy of Bacolod from 2007 to 2014.

Abeto believes that she is a teacher by profession but an artist by birth.

Also present at the opening were Dolly Gatuslao, founder of the Feminine Touch artists, AAB-N officers Patty Jane Ong and Edbon Sevilleno, and other AAB-N member, Dr. Jay Estoya, along with members of Abeto’s family.*
