The mandatory wearing of face masks inside the government offices of Cadiz City Hall may be lifted next week, disclosed Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. yesterday.

Escalante issued an executive order last week, for the mandatory wearing of face masks at the Cadiz City Hall, after two department heads tested positive for COVID-19.

The one-week contact tracing of employees under the two department heads yielded a negative result, as none of them experiencing symptoms of being infected by the virus, he added.

Escalante raised the possibility that the infection of two department heads, may have originated from visitors from outside Cadiz City who recently visited the City Hall.

But he still enjoined Cadiznons, especially those with comorbidities, to be always vigilant and to wear face masks in public places.

This is one way of reminding also the people that COVID-19 is still with us, although not potent as before, Escalante said.*
