Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante, Jr. hailed the feat of the Philippine Normal University-Visayas’ (PNU-V) in the latest teacher’s exam held across the country last March, a press release from Cadiz PIO said.
Obtaining a 99.03 percent and 96 percent passing rates (all first-time takers) in the secondary and elementary levels, respectively, in the March 2024 Licensure Exam for Teachers (LET) was an astonishing performance of PNU-V, worthy of praise that the local government of Cadiz can be proud of, Escalante said.
More so with PNU-V alumnus Renante de la Torre, Jr., placed 10th in the secondary level, among 85,980 total examinees.
De la Torre, a graduate of Bachelor in Mathematics Education (BSME) in 2023, garnered a weighted average of 90.80 percent.
PNU-V is one of the government-run institutions in Cadiz, specializing in education programs or courses.
“Hence, as the chief executive of Cadiz City, I am beyond happy to hear the latest LET results. It pumps my heart to gladness. And I am grateful to the administration of PNU-V for being true to its commitment in producing ‘the best teachers’ not just for Cadiz, but for the entire Negros Island or even across the country,” Escalante said.
Also placing fourth among the top performing schools in the entire country on the secondary level with 100 to 299 examinees and with at least 92 percent passing percentage by having 105 passers out of 109 first-time and re-takes or an equivalent of 96.33 passing rate also made PNU-V truly beyond praise, the mayor added.
He said the entire Cadiz community, therefore, is rejoicing with PNU-V’s accomplishment in academia.
“It will mean more quality teachers in Negros Occidental ready to dwell on quality teaching with the aim of producing more quality learners in the future,” Escalante related, adding “Cadiz is proud to be one of the producers of these quality teachers.”
Aside from PNU-V in Cadiz, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) also announced that PNU-Manila is now the number one performing school in the country (in the secondary level) in the category wIth 3O0 and more examinees with at least 85 percent passing percentage by having 381 passers from its 385 total takers, which is equivalent to 98.96 percent rating.
