The city government of Cadiz made another milestone by releasing P10 million to its 5,000 college scholars on October 19.
Each scholar under the 23-year-old Cadiz City Education Assistance Program (CCEAP) for Academic Year 2024- 2024 received P2,000 in a ceremonial distribution held at the Cadiz Arena.
The distribution event was highlighted by many interesting stories of CCEAP scholars, mostly coming from ordinary families in Cadiz, whose dreams are just simple – to finish college, have jobs, and help their respective families.
Mayor Salvador Escalante, Jr., the brain behind CCEAP, said the educational program he designed 23 years ago will forever be a legacy in their city.
“This is meant for every Cadiznon who really wishes to better his or her life through college education,” the mayor said.
Escalante said that the CCEAP “will always serve as a formidable vehicle to transport Cadiznons’ dreams to realities.”
While the CCEAP cannot give all of the scholars’ financial needs, Escalante said the assistance given could really spell a lot of difference in their pursuit for college education. Thus, for 23 years since the inception of the CCEAP, Cadiz produced so many professionals, he added.
“Seeing CCEAP alumni thriving, leading and shining in the communities here and abroad is truly heart-warming,” Escalante further said in a statement issued by the Cadiz City government.*
