After achieving a Guinness World Records entry for having built a 115-feet structure in the shape of a chicken, the owner of Campuestohan Highland Resort in Talisay, Negros Occidental, dreams of turning the resort into a “City of Lights.”
Former Bacolod councilor Ricardo “Cano” Tan yesterday said the project might probably take one or two years to materialize. “I plan to make the whole of Campuestohan Resort a ‘city of lights’ the whole year round, and this may be another first in Asia.”
Tan said he plans to make the three existing tunnel of lights permanent which is part of the Christmas decorations found at the resort this holiday season. He also pointed out that they recently have a 100 percent occupancy rate, especially during December 31, since people love to witness the fireworks display of Bacolod and other neighboring cities during New Year’s eve, which is visible from the resort.
Many local tourists from outside of Negros, as well as foreign visitors also come to the resort to see the hotel or structure which the Guinness World Records formally declared as the tallest building in the shape of a chicken. This was also featured or covered by several foreign media outlets and bloggers, especially in Asia, he said.
Tan said the public should also watch out for the construction of the longest chasing slide in the world, which could be another “wow factor.” The facility measures about 150 meters long which he plans to extend to the pool.
He also thanked the Talisay officials led by Mayor Neil Lizares for being supportive to his project and for their tourism officer for promoting Campuestohan Highland Resort.*
