The Art Association of Bacolod-Negros launched a Negros-themed group art exhibition at Eron’s Cansi House at Narra Avenue, Capitol Shopping Center, Bacolod City on May 22 that will run until June 30.

Titled “Arte Negrense”, the show is a joint venture with a group of local artists called Art Tambay, and Bacolod Food Hunters. It features realistic paintings done by about 18 members of AAB-N.

AAB-N director Edbon Sevilleno said the idea of holding exhibits in restaurants was presented to them by blogger Martin Aquino (Bacolod Food Hunters). So, they have decided to hold series of art exhibits in different restaurants in Bacolod City just like in New York.

Their primary objective is to promote food and art. They started with Eron’s Cansi House showcasing realistic paintings which the owner, Joern Baade has requested. But they later plan to hold another exhibit featuring female artists of AAB-N probably in restaurants that specialize in cakes and pastries, he said.

Sevilleno said these activities will kick-off their preparation for the 50th founding anniversary of AAB-N in 2025. Currently, they have about 60 active members.

AAB-N is the second longest running art association in the country, next to the Art Association of the Philippines, he added.*
