Capitol employees assured bonuses amid COA notice of disallowance

BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Amid the issuance of notice of disallowances by the Commission on Audit, Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz yesterday said that they will find the means to give additional bonuses to Capitol employees.

Diaz confirmed that the provincial government received a notice of disallowance from the COA, in connection with the giving of P25,000 Incentive Benefits for Exemplary Services (IBES) to employees in 2021.

The P25,000 form part of the P65,000 in bonuses received by each Capitol employee last year from the provincial government of Negros Occidental.

However, Capitol employees have been assured by Diaz that they will look for ways, as they will no longer use IBES as basis for giving incentives.

Diaz said the issue of disallowances is now pending for appeal at the Supreme Court.

It is very clear to (Gov) Eugenio Jose Lacson that what is legal, what is being supported by COA on the valid benefits to be given, we will continue that, he stressed.

Diaz said that Capitol employees will surely receive their bonuses. However, he did not give the exact amount.

He also assured the continuing services of Contract of Service and Job Order workers, stressing that they have an allocated budget.*
