The next few weeks will be busy for Negrense athletes.
The series of sports events will kick off on January 29 with the opening of the Negros Occidental Provincial Athletic Association Meet at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday said that the billeting areas will be in different public schools in Bacolod City, while the sports competitions will be held at the Panaad Park and different private venues.
This year’s edition of the annual provincial sports event will have the theme “ABANSE: Achieving Beyond All, Nurturing Strength through Excellence.”
The winners will represent Negros Occidental at the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) to be hosted by Antique on March 1 to 8.
The winners in the regional meet will represent Western Visayas at the Palarong Pambansa on April 28 to May 4 in Ilocos Norte.
Lacson, however, said that there is a proposal for the premier sports event to be held after the May 12 elections.*
