Capitol honors women leaders

Female provincial board members, Capitol department and office heads, and chiefs of hospitals of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, were honored as part of the Women’s Month Culmination Activity held on March 31 at the Provincial Capitol Building in Bacolod City.

The event recognized their invaluable contributions to public service, highlighting their leadership and dedication in advancing gender equality and inclusive development in the province.

It also served as a meaningful celebration of their accomplishments and the provincial government’s commitment to empowering women in governance.

In his speech, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson disclosed that 57.8 percent of the Provincial Government workforce are women, which reflects the high level of trust, competence, and leadership that women bring to public service.

Lacson also commended the Provincial Council for Women and the GAD Focal Point System, led by Action Officer Marie June Castro, for their continued efforts in advancing the welfare of women and for spearheading the successful celebration of Women’s Month in Negros Occidental.

Board Members Hope Marey “Bambi” Depasucat and Araceli Somosa were among the featured awardees honored at the event.*
