Capitol open to buy property for CPSU-Moises Padilla campus

• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The Negros Occidental provincial government yesterday indicated its willingness to buy property to be the new site of the Central Philippines State University – Moises Padilla campus.

This follows the provincial government having backed out from the purchase of the two-hectare lot where the CPSU- Moises Padilla campus is currently located, which owned by Francisco Nazareno Jr, son of former Mayor Francisco Nazareno, due to failure of the seller to comply with legal and documentary requirements, legal deficiencies in the executed deed of sale, as well as the seller’s adversarial and uncooperative conduct.

The provincial government had earlier agreed to purchase the lot, located in Barangay 7, Moises Padilla, for P25 million.

While they are open to buying a different property, Lacson said the construction of school buildings might cause delays that will affect the students.

He advised the CPSU management to deal with Nazareno and to get guidance from the Department of Education.

More than 1,000 students are enrolled at the CPSU Moises Padilla campus.*
