The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has renewed the employment contracts of 2,839 casual, Contract of Service (COS), and Job Order (JO) workers, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II announced.
According to provincial records, the renewed contracts include 668 casual employees, 1,076 COS workers, and 1,095 JOs.
“These are our employees who have performed well, but their plantilla contracts expired after six months,” Diaz explained, citing the reason for renewal.
He added that department heads recommended the renewal of the employees, emphasizing that “some were not renewed due to poor performance, administrative offenses, or because they were not recommended by their department heads for renewal.”
“The first week of the year is always dedicated to organizational setup. We need to verify whether our JOs, COS, and casual employees have had their contracts renewed. We have already presented these to the governor for approval,” Diaz stated.
DEPARTMENT HEAD VACANCIES
Five departmental leadership positions are currently vacant and open for application. These include the heads of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Provincial Agriculturist, Provincial Accountant, Human Resource and Management Office (HRMO), and the Assistant Department Head of the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC).
“Also, we reviewed our vacant positions, which were vacated due to retirement, dismissal, or were newly created,” Diaz said.
Provincial Accountant Annabelle Magalona had recently signaled her intent to retire, thus vacating her post, while the HRMO head position was vacated following dismissal from service.
Newly created positions include the head of PDRRMO and the NOLITC Assistant Department Head, while the post of the Provincial Agriculturist’s remains vacant.
The positions are open to qualified applicants, whether current Capitol employees or outside candidates. All applications will undergo a formal selection process before the board chooses the most suitable candidate.
“There will be interviews, assessments, and qualification validations before the selection board makes its decision. The final recommendation will then be forwarded to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for approval,” Diaz explained.*
