The possibility of the Negros Occidental provincial government continuing its Bulk Water project, which could tap the water surface of Malogo River in E.B. Magalona, is still being entertained.
If they pursue the project, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said it will be on a smaller scale, where it may only benefit fewer local government units, which could include E.B. Magalona, Victorias City, and Manapla.
He, however, clarified that a final decision has not yet been made.
The Silay Sangguniang Panlungsod earlier disapproved the resolution of no objection (RONO) being requested by the provincial government, needed to pursue its P1.1 billion bulk water project that intended to use the surface water of Imbang River/Hinalinan River in barangay of Guimbalaon in the city.
Lacson said he respects the decision of the Silay City government, adding that they will no longer seek a motion for reconsideration on the decision of the Silay City Council.
In short, we will no longer tap the water source in Silay, he added.
Lacson also raised the possibility that the project could be set aside.*
