Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday assured patients that hemodialysis center at the Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital in La Carlota City will reopen in two weeks time.
Patients earlier expressed alarm at the recent closure of the government-run hemodialysis center in La Carlota City, after the service provider reportedly left, without any explanation.
Lacson said they will tap the service provider of the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay and Cadiz District Hospital, to put up a new filtration system at the La Carlota City government hospital.
At the minimum, it will take two weeks, the governor said.
Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrandio Diaz earlier said that the provincial government cannot allow the resumption of the interrupted service until the facility, which was found to be dirty, is cleaned and made safe for patients.
Lacson said that in the meantime, the provincial government will assist dialysis patients in their transfer and transport to other hemodialysis centers at Silay and Cadiz government hospitals.
“They have a very good record with us,” Lacson said, referring to the service provider at TLJPH and CDH medical facilities.*
