The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) successfully apprehended a 26-year-old suspect in a carnapping incident, following a hot pursuit operation on Wednesday evening.
The arrested suspect was identified as Rodel Bargola, 26, a resident of Purok Katilingban, Barangay 40, Bacolod City.
According to PCapt. Francis Depasucat, the operation commenced after the complainant from Cadiz City sought assistance from Police Station 1.
The victim reported that his service motorcycle, a Black Euro Sport R 125, was stolen while parked outside his boarding house along San Sebastian Street, Purok Bagong Kilos, Barangay 13, Bacolod City.
Police stated that through a quick hot pursuit operation, and with assistance from officers of Police Station 6, Bargola was located and arrested along Hernaez Street in Barangay 40.
The stolen motorcycle was recovered during the apprehension.
Initial police records further reveal that the suspect has been previously involved in other criminal cases, including a theft incident in Barangay Taculing last August 26, involving the taking of a cellular phone, and a separate carnapping incident in Barangay 40 last March 26, 2023.
Bargola is currently detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 1.
Authorities are preparing to file a criminal complaint against him for violation of the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 before the City Prosecutor’s Office in Bacolod.
