A bounty awaits informants who can provide information leading to the resolution of unsolved killings in Bacolod City.
A spate of killings took place in Bacolod City shortly before PCol. Noel Aliño vacated his post as Bacolod City Police Office chief. He was replaced by PCol. Joeresty Coronica.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, through spokesperson Atty. Caesar Distrito, announced that he would provide cash rewards to any credible informants on the unsolved killings in Bacolod City, as proposed by Coronica, newly installed BCPO officer-in-charge.
Distrito said that the cash rewards will be announced, after conferring with the BCPO chief.
In a press briefing on July 26, Coronica said the giving of cash rewards, as he suggested to Mayor Benitez, will hasten the solution of crimes by encouraging the cooperation of witnesses.
The new BCPO OIC asked Bacolodnons to give him time to study all the crimes that have recently taken place in the highly urbanized city.
Coronica, formerly a BCPO Station 1 commander and police chief of Silay City, also said that he will further strengthen the campaign against illegal drugs, and robbery and theft incidents, among others.*
