CCTV captures scrap collector being gunned down in Banago

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

A 39-year-old scrap collector was shot and killed by unidentified riding-in-tandem gunmen in Purok Mahimulaton, Barangay Banago, Bacolod City, early Wednesday evening.

Police identified the victim as Victor Hermano, a single resident of GK Village, Purok Tinagong Paraiso in the barangay.

Initial police reports indicate that the incident occurred at around 5:52 p.m. while Hermano was walking along the road.

The suspects pulled up beside him and shot him twice in the back, causing fatal wounds, which were captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV).

Based on the CCTV footage, the driver of the motorcycle was wearing a blue-and-white long-sleeved shirt, denim pants, slippers, and a helmet.

The back-rider was wearing a white, black, and yellow shirt, denim pants, a cap, and a face mask.

While the investigation into the motive is ongoing, Bacolod Police Station 3 Commander, Police Captain Rosalino Pugoy Jr., revealed that Hermano had prior local police blotter records, mostly concerning minor theft incidents, rather than illegal drugs.

Pugoy appealed to the public to cooperate with authorities and step forward with any information that could help locate and identify the suspects.*
