A detained rape suspect managed to escape on May 11, while under the custody of the Talisay City Police Station in Negros Occidental.
The fugitive was identified by the police as Arnel Ocaña, of Sitio Mambacano, Brgy. Cabatangan, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Police records show that Ocaña was arrested by the Talisay City police operatives on April 23 in Mandaue City, Cebu, by virtue of an arrest, for the crime of rape, in relation to RA 7610, also known as the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
Police investigations show that Ocaña manifested to have been experiencing abdominal pain and difficulty in breathing while under the custody of the Talisay City police.
Desk officer and jailer PChief MSgt Pastor Antonio Celajes helped Ocaña by allowing him to lie down on the steel chairs at the police station lobby.
However, Ocaña took advantage of the situation as Celajes was contacting the Talisay City Health Office, by escaping to the back of the police station headquarters.
Manhunt operations are now ongoing against the fleeing Ocaña who ranked number one in the most wanted list of Mandaue City Police Station in Cebu.*
