What the ancient Greek philosopher once said, “Give me a different set of mothers, and I will give you a different world,” remains true today, highlighting the timeless and important role mothers have played throughout human history.
Mothers have the power to shape the human race, and we simply cannot discount the role they play in forming the world’s greatest leaders, which are most likely the result of their care, love, and support.
As we celebrate Mother’s Day tomorrow, let us take the time to reflect upon everything that they have done for us, as running a household and taking care of its members, especially the boys, is one of the most difficult 24/7 jobs that comes without a retirement plan.
Our mothers, biological or chosen, are the epitome of love, even if they sometimes struggle to show or express it. A home can never be complete without them, and while what they do has often become invisible, let us not wait for them to disappear before showing them the love and appreciation they deserve. Mother’s Day gives us an opportunity to take into stock the value of our moms, in our lives and our homes, and thank them for everything they have selflessly done for their families. It is something we should do every day, but at least we get this reminder once a year.
Without a mother’s love, each of us would be a lesser person. Those of us who are fortunate enough to have their mothers still in this world, please make sure that they know how much they are appreciated. On Mother’s Day, give them a break, a present, a few words of love that will go a long way. Those whose moms have passed on, take the time to remember them and what they stood for, share stories of them with those that they left behind, especially if they have grandchildren who missed an opportunity to know and experience the love of one of the most amazing and influential people in your life.
