Two more directors of Central Negros Electric Cooperative were elected at the district elections held Saturday in Bacolod City.
Roel Venus, the over-all in-charge of the District elections said Eugene Velasco was elected as the new director of District 2 while Jojit Yap retained her post as Director of District 3.
Velasco got 3,858 votes over engineer Beda Tumbos, who received 1,038 votes, and will now represent the member consumers from Barangays Taculing, Felisa, Handumanan, Cabug, Pahanocoy, Sum-ag, Punta Taytay, Tangub and Alijis, Venus said.
Yap, who is now on her third term, will continue to represent member consumers from barangays 17 to 41, he said.
Venus added that District 3 has more or less 7,000 registered active member-consumers while District 4 has at least 41,000.
Both Velasco and Yap, in their Facebook accounts, expressed gratitude to all member-consumers who trusted and voted for them.
Last week, Antonio Panique won as Director of District V covering Barangays 8 to 39 and Singcang-Airport while Catholic priest Ernie Lardia became the director of District IV covering barangays Villamonte, Montevista, Alangilan, Granada, Estefania, Vista Alegre, Mansilingan and Sitio Abkasa in Mandalagan, a first in the history of the electric cooperative.
Venus said the District Elections in Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto (District VII) and in Talisay City (District 8) have been deferred and will be rescheduled at a later date as the local government units have not acted upon their request to hold the district poll of the electric cooperative.
The newly-elected directors will be called for a meeting soon by the current members of the board.*
