BY ADRIAN P. NEMES III

A resolution, asking the Bacolod City Engineer’s Office to expedite the repairs of local roads and drainages, was filed by Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. Wednesday.

Gamboa said he is seeking the help of the Office of Mayor Evelio Leonardia so the concerns about the slow repairs or constructions of roads and drainages will be acted on immediately.

He said that once constructions are done, these will minimize traffic congestion and accidents, adding that, there is also a need to check on the quality of roads being constructed.

Gamboa cited the roads at Narra Extension, Arao relocation site, and in barangays Mansilingan and Felisa, where there are now visible cracks barely two months after they were repaired.

Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways is yet to reply to Gamboa’s resolution filed last week where he urged the agency to hasten the repairs of the national roads in Bacolod.

He also asked the agency to install early warning devices and signage as there have been a lot of accidents happening along roads that are being repaired.

Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya earlier said that he is also going to ask the DPWH to look into several accidents on roads being repaired by the agency. Gasataya said that he himself calls the attention of the DPWH whenever he sees that the roads being repaired lack warning devices and signages.*
