Chefs and restos honored

Five hotel chefs and 20 establishments in Bacolod City were given recognition during the Bacolod Chicken Inasal Awarding rites at the Main Atrium of SM City Bacolod Saturday, during the 3-day Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival from May 24 to 26.

Included in the 20 establishments are those engaged in the business of chicken inasal namely, Nenas Rose which received The Locals Choice Award, Aida’s – Vlogger’s Choice Award, and Cha Rose – People’s Choice Award.

Recipients of the Chef’s Recognition Award (for food tasting and beer pairing) were Chef Allen Alber of L’Fisher Hotel; Chef Edwin Infante – Seda Capitol Central; Chef Rufino “Fines” Dungca Jr. – Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod; Chef Cidj Jalandoni of Iloilo City; and Chef Diego Trillana of Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod.

The nine recipients of the Bacolod Gastro Buzz Award were Merzci Pasalubong; Tikboy’s BBQ; Eron’s Cansi House; Sharyn’s Cansi House; Enting’s; 21 Restaurant; Bob’s Restaurant; Quan Delicacies; and Felicia’s; while Ribshack received the Inasal Ambassador Award.

SM City Bacolod, Megaworld Corporation, and Ayala Malls Capitol Central received sponsor appreciation.

The Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival with the theme: “2024 Inasal Global” opened Friday at the North Capitol Road in Bacolod City after the holding of BongBong’s “longest piaya grill” at The Upper East initiated by Megaworld Corporation.

The festival ended Sunday with a streetdance competition at Megaworld’s The Upper East.

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) recently recognized the chicken inasal as a cultural property of Bacolod.

This resulted after the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod passed on Nov. 16, 2022 an “Ordinance declaring the chicken inasal as a cultural property of Bacolod”, authored by Councilor Em Ang.*
