The Integrated Chemists of the Philippines-Negros Island Chapter, Inc. conducted a “Workshop on the Estimation of Uncertainty of Chemical Measurements” at Sugarland Hotel, Bacolod City last November 28 to 29.
The workshop was conducted in response to the need for knowledge in the uncertainty of chemical measurements as required by clients.
Dr. Ian Ken Dimzon, an associate professor of the Department of Chemistry, School of Science and Engineering of the Ateneo de Manila University, was workshop speaker.
The first day gave the foundation and identified core concepts of measurement uncertainty, as well as identified all significant sources of uncertainty in a measurement process.
The second day involved synthesis, reporting and application, combining uncertainty components, as well as learning how to apply the concept in real-world laboratory settings.*
