Carlos Hilado State College is now state university*

Carlos Hilado Memorial State College is now a state university after its conversion was approved by the Commission on Higher Education.

Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya yesterday said he was elated to hear the news of its conversion into Carlos Hilado Memorial State University.

Gasataya said that during his first term as congressman of Bacolod, he authored Republic Act No. 11336 that will provide a state university for Bacolod City.

The conversion would mean more budget for CHMSU, better opportunities for the CHMSU community, more academic programs/courses offered, improved capacity to accommodate more students with free tuition, development and improvement of academic facilities, an increase in academic research, refinement of the CHMSU corporate image, and an overall improvement in quality of education in all campuses of CHMSU, he said.

Gasataya said this goes hand-in-hand with Republic Act No. 10931 or the Free College Education Act which he and other solons also co-authored during their first term in line with their advocacy to improve access to and the quality of public education in Bacolod City.

“We thank the hardworking community of the Carlos Hilado State University for their dedication to the advancement of their educational institution in pursuit of quality, relevant, and accessible public education for Bacolodnons and Negrosanons and the Commission on Higher Education led by its chairman Dr. Prospero De Vera for their staunch commitment to quality tertiary education,” he added.*
