CHMSU, PAFJO-TMJ launch Dental Health Month

Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) and the Philippine Association of Functional Jaw Orthopedics-TMJ Inc. (PAFJO-TMJ) launched their joint 19th National Dental Health Month celebration with the theme “Ululupon kita Magkari, Magyuhom, kag Magsinadya” at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) on February 22.

According to a press release, twenty-eight delegates of PAFJO-TMJ arrived at the Bacolod City Government Center for the launching event, the first of several activities lined up until February 24.

Atty. Joseph Karol Chiu, Secretary to the Mayor, welcomed the delegates on behalf of Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo B. Benitez. Chiu cited the LGU’s active involvement in eradicating illegal dental procedures performed by unlicensed individuals in the city. He shared that the government hopes to continue collaborations with the organization, and wished it success in all of its programs.

Norberto Mangulabnan, PhD, CHMSU president, also stated his support for the annual observance of Dental Health Month and the initiatives of the dental practitioners. “We are with you in the development and in the improvement the lives of our people in whatever arena we are in,” he said.

Ma. Generose Alunan, DMD, CHMSU dentist and PAFJO-TMJ vice president for Visayas, acknowledged the partners and administrators who made the event possible, and presented the PAFJO-TMJ delegates.

The guests were then treated to a MassKara Festival dance performance from the CHMSU Office for Culture and the Arts.

Sheila Ortega-Cobcobo, DMD, PAFJO-TMJ president, expressed her gratitude the Bacolod City government and CHMSU for the warm welcome and announced that PAFJO-TMJ will be co-hosting the country’s World Oral Health Day celebration for 2023. Christina Espenilla, DMD, on behalf of Isabel Allyn Mendoza, DMD, PAFJO-TMJ president-elect, also gave her message of thanks.

The event closed with the ceremonial unveiling of the 19th National Dental Health Month banner outside the BCGC.*
